ORAL PRESENTATION
The Loire lake beach
SITE ANALYSE
The Loire is a wild river which crosses the town of Blois. This city has 45,000 inhabitants and has a rich historical heritage with the castle of Blois.
The site on which we are working with my group is the Lac de Loire which is next to the viaduct.
The Lac of Loire is a vestige because since the destruction of the dam present next to it, the lake has not filled up.
We find a second vestige which is the viaduct which was bombed during the Second World War. The lake was a leisure space which has also become a vestige.
GROUP PROJECT
We wish to link agriculture, tourism and leisure through the site.
These experiences will take place through several meeting points.
We connect the fields to the Loire through specific interventions. The site is very horizontal and we structure it as a group through beacons.
PROBLEMS
The first problem is the presence of water. The risk of flooding is very high and attention must be paid to building structures.
The second problem is the road, which separate the Loire with its banks from the fields.
This site is bounded by a secondary road, the Loire and the Viaduct which are perpendicular to one another. The site is very horizontal and lacks landmarks for orientation.
The main activities of the site are agriculture, tourism and leisure. Tourists are increasingly sensitive to issues of eco-responsibility.
INDIVIDUAL PROJECT
Concept
I will expend the swimming pool by returning to the original idea which was to make a high-level sports complex.
The current swimming pool will be transformed into a complex with an Olympic swimming pool, a water basin, a diving board and a diving pit.
Implantation
My intervention will be executed in 5 steps:
- Create a slab connecting the old installations
- Raise the slab by 30 cm to distinguish it from the ground
- Install pools and equipment
- Highlight them by hiding them with a wall
- Stage the beach with the main hall to make it mysterious and surprising
Towers
The diving board and the diving pit are important vertical landmarks. These towers will serve as beacons.
Entrance
The entrance to the swimming pool creates an atmosphere of artistic discovery.
To enter, we have to go under the beach.
The view is deliberately framed in the main hall with the Loire as an image. We will play with the water to have an acoustic installations in this hall.
We can only hear the swimming pool and imagine it before the changing rooms.
Emotions
When we leave the locker room, we discover the Loire as close as possible. We can then gain height by going to the main beach.
We will finally discover the sensation of bathing in a swimming pool as close as possible to the Loire.
